I've had this problem one to many times! I've had success two ways: the first one being to walk into the pasture, but do not make eye contact. Keep you eyes focused a few feet infront of you, but not on the horse...particularly the shoulder/neck area since this is the "attack area" of predators. Keep your back faced at a slight angle away from him. Try to attempt to get closer, and when you do, award him with a treat.
The other way to win, is (THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF HE LIKES TO RUN AWAY FROM YOU!) to keep him going around, preferable at a canter, the paddock...if he wants to run, he should run. Eventually he will understand that you gave him what he asked for, a good run around the paddock! He should give up and calm down. Hope that I have helped, and again, this has worked for me. :O)
