Wish I could be of more help! Its always frustrating dealing with bad behavior regardless of the cause.

I think that once you get a round pen and can work more with him there, you'll find that a lot of those problems will be resolved :) Sometimes, it just takes consistant work, sometimes even on unrelated things, to make behavior change.
