::though more trainers prefer to start the babies themselves as in a lot of cases, this prevents them having to retrain something that was taught wrong::
one of those trainers would be me ;). And I've found it's not as often something taught wrong as something taught different. I'm always retraining horses i buy to take a cue alittle different or a cue I prefer for something. As for having someone else teach me...I seem to have a problem conforming to another person's ideas of how I should train but i'm more than willing to take advice=I just may not use all of it.
::I could still get on a reiner and get the moves done, and rollbacks I know, but spins and slides take a bit more explaining and do's and don'ts....::
But I've already taught friend's horses how to spin, slide, rollback (to an extent, just good enough for stock horse at local shows)....I've just never been on a trained reiner or trained one just for reining.
:Help any?
