Founder is a serious thing, even in the minis. I have a foundered miniature mare and Arab. First, you really need to talke with your vet. But, from my experience, you need to pull some weight off of it. The vets even recommended putting them on a 10% pellet feed. High intake of rich grass, to much grain & even a change in weather can cause a horse to founder. With a miniature, you need to have a farrier who knows what they are doing. Trimming is so important. What I did w/ my mini mare was also to take approx. a 2 inch pad of gauze & put on the frog of the foot and wrap it with vet wrap or wide surgical tape, bring them in the barn and stall them for a couple of weeks. This way you can control their intake of grain also. You need to look on the internet, under laminitis, there are some really good sites there and founder is the same in big or little horses. Good luck!!
