when you are walking make sure your horse is moving forward energetically, then squeeze your legs to get him to jog, make sure you aren't pulling back on his mouth and that your eyes are up and ur looking ahead. if he is a little reluctant try giving him a tap behind ur leg with a crop, or clucking to him, once he is jogging you might have to reapply leg pressure, but don't keep nagging him with ur leg, that makes for a dull-sided horse. remember that it is better to give a strong cue and wake him up than keep half-heartedly nagging him with ur leg. u ride western, right? i ride english so thats the best advice i can give u also, once you are jogging don't slouch in the saddle, sit up, horses can feel the shifting of ur weight.
