Since june 2002 several people involved in horse and dog rescue have been trying to help the Prowers County sheriff's office with a mess in their county. Well, WE GOT EM!
Eula Ramsey was found guilty on all six counts of cruelty to animals. She will be sentenced March 19th and her son is set to trial on April 29.
I am hoping that readers who can make it to the court will do as to show the sheriff how much we appreciate his endevors on behalf of horses everywhere. Re-electioon of Sheriff Jim Faull was threatened and the politics were very dirty. The message has been sent. This is one county in Colorado that wont stand for abuse.
Since the first week of August this rescue has been caring for and feeding these horses. The best one only scored a 2 1/2 on the heineke scale. One was a 1. The walking dead.
One a foal of about 7 weeks died after a long struggle to live. None of these horses can be handled. So caring for them has been a little tricky. It has also been expenxive in money and time. Our resources are streatched to the limit. And along comes 52 starved horses in Kiowa County.
The most hysterical part was Mr. Ramsey's testimony that he has a dergree in Range Management and one in Animal Science. I want to know from where. All he did was prove that he knew better. The so called feed that was there had only a rating of 2.1% in protein. In the ADA's words the nutrition value of carboard. And lets not forgetthe three dead horses that were in the corral with the other 7.
If you can, if you care please contact the sheriff's office in Prowers County at 719-336-8050.Undersherrif Brad Jones and Sheriff Jim Faull deserve a pat on the back for their efforts.
