:hi everyone!
:I have two 3 month old kids and I was wondering at what age should a goat be dewormed?
Anthelmetics that are approved for use in goats and do a good job with problematic parasites in goats are Tramisole which is a tablet or pelleted dewormer, Ripercol which is the injectible version of Tramisole, and Ivomec injectible. It is very important to stay on top of parasite control with goats. In some areas, parasites are the number one cause of death in goats! Other things that can reduce your parasite loads are basic sanitary precautions - keeping their living areas cleaned, dry, and giving them plenty of room and fresh, clean hay, grazing and water. Good luck with your little ones! PH Cody
Your kids are plenty old enough to be started on a deworming program :) It is recommended that goats be dewormed every 6-8 weeks like horses, but use a dewormer that is made for goats, not horses! Not only do they have varying parasites, but the digestive systems of the two animals are different as are the metabolic systems so they react differently to chemicals.
