: :Welcome to the HorseHobbyist :) :I can't believe the good timing of this post! This month's Hoofbeats has an article about donating to humane societies, shelters, etc. :If you give us a general location as to where you are, someone here might be able to help with the name. Otherwise, you might find help in your local phone book or via the internet. Try one of the search engine's yellow pages and go by type. Try various things - animal shelter, equine rescue, etc. The Search engine I use all the time is www.Dogpile.com which is a metasearch engine, it pulls things from about 12 other search engines. More bang for your buck that way :) :You can also ask around on some of the rescue boards here, someone might chance upon them who knows of a place in need! :Good luck with your Christmas gifts :) :PH Cody :
:Hi Cindy!

Howdy Cody,
Im up here in the great white frozen tundra, land of harleys, beer and cheeseheads. Im in Wisconsin. Actually what I am planning as part of my wedding showers/wedding is to request items that are of value to animal shelters. Used blankeys can work great for many locations, but I was thinking that would be the one great thing for a horse rescue. What I am going to do is make a list for people to spend $5.00 less than they intended to spend on us and make a $5.00 gift that I can disperse between shelters that I work with in the area. With the amount of money I spend on my specialized rescue Im sure the horse people spend more with less donations simply because you cant make people donate housing for horses;). And seeing as it isnt a cat or dog that is at the local kennel, I would think gathering donations would be a bit harder. Just some thoughts I am bouncing around...
