I can't believe the good timing of this post! This month's Hoofbeats has an article about donating to humane societies, shelters, etc.
If you give us a general location as to where you are, someone here might be able to help with the name. Otherwise, you might find help in your local phone book or via the internet. Try one of the search engine's yellow pages and go by type. Try various things - animal shelter, equine rescue, etc. The Search engine I use all the time is www.Dogpile.com which is a metasearch engine, it pulls things from about 12 other search engines. More bang for your buck that way :)
You can also ask around on some of the rescue boards here, someone might chance upon them who knows of a place in need!
