Well, I did some research on this one and this is what I found out.....

I could not find mulberry trees of any kind listed as poisonous. But,
I did find chinaberry trees, peach trees, wild cherry trees, black cherry,
chokecherry, and several others listed that were poison. They actually
cause cyanide poisoning. Most were prunus species, so if you knew the
actual name of the tree, that might be a good clue.

As for what to plant, we are working on that ourselves. Know of anything
good for horses, good for shade, but poisonous to
ground squirrels, heehee???
