Mites can usually be controlled the same as flies, with topical insecticides. You should be careful to observe for any sign of local reaction or burning under the mane area if you use a potent ointment. 10 acres is a large area to try to treat to reduce the number of mites in the environment. It would be good to get rid of some of them at least in the shady spots, around buildings, or in stalls.
