Hello,
I have a 16 month old filly App.
Last year when it was time for her fall shots our vet noticed that she had a bit of a swollen lymph node near her left mammary. She said she'd check it again when she came back to give her her booster. At this time she noticed that the mammary had become much more enlarged & decided to put her on an antibiotic twice daily w/daily hot packing treatment. She told me this was nothing to worry about & it wasn't life threatening. We followed instructions to a tee & the swelling DID go down considerably. However, now a year later, & there IS still some swelling. Not bad, nothing like before, & it does go down after we work her. However, the next day the swelling is right back up. She's otherwise the picture of perfect health & has been. Her appetite is awesome, she has TONS of energy, her stools & urine are normal, typical 16 month old. Now my vet has told me that this is scar tissue? And it may not go away for months to years?
I'm just not buying this. Could this maybe have been mis diagnosed? Should I try Ichthammol? Is there a horse dosage of this? Please give me your thoughts on the whole situation. I'm beyond frantic at this point. Should I get a second opinion?
Thanks much for your time,
-Cindy
