Cribbing is "addictive" in horses and can be easily learned from other horses. To prevent cribbing, remove all surfaces that can be pulled on by teeth, possiblly coat all surfaces with a foul tasting substance, place a muzzle on the horse, use a cribbing collar, or surgically cut the muscles of the neck used in cribbing. I prefer to use the collars and muzzles on a rotational basis (muzzle when in a stall and collar when truned out).
