prednisone side effects

Horse has lost about 100-200 pounds in the last 3 weeks. Has been taking prednisone (20 mg times 25 pills a day)for about the last 80 days.He's been wormed, on various food supplement. He has loss of energy, partial appetite, stays away from the other horses, keeps head low, and seems depressed. Could this medication be the cause of this or do we need to look elsewhere?
