I think that the last month of waiting for a foal to arrive is the hardest. To see the mare getting ready, her bag swelling, her super cranky mood shift, LOL....just makes time go slower and slower!
Chris is due in 3 weeks and counting! I think she'll be a bit late with this one though, she has a pretty reliable process she follows and has started bagging up a bit later than I expected. Not much later, I'm still setting my sights on the first week in January, we'll see...
This foal will be a full sibling to Spider, our black and white filly....oh, sorry, ApHC says she's a bay...regardless, full sibling. Somehow I doubt we'll be lucky enough to get another dark baby like her but who knows? I'm guessing a chestnut, thought perhaps one in a dark shade? I'd love to see a near leopard or even a leopard, but wouldn't mind having another colorful blanket like Spider's! Odds are that we'll get a colt this year...Chris has given us 3 fillies now. But you won't hear me griping if we get another :)
So anyone else want to play the guessing game? More so, I haven't set a name up for this one yet. Shows I'm getting old I guess, I usually have one picked out by now (though admittedly I tend to change them once the baby's born!) Well, I say that but I think I had both Maggie and Ellie named before hand and stuck with the names... All the same...anyone want to throw out some name potential? We don't follow any hard and fast rules as far as using parents names, etc though I do usually like to tie them in somehow.
This foal will be out of Cherokee Eyes. She's by Brite Eyes Jack and out of Specs Spanglebabe. Notables in her line are Skips Reward, Joker B, Prince Plaudit, Two-Eyed Jack, Poco Bueno and several Hank horses like Cherokee Bailey, Chief Barney, etc. Unfortunately Chris is close enough to the "beginnings" on her bottom side that most of her pedigree includes things like Nez Perce Appaloosa, Arabian mare and that great horse - Unknown!
And of course this baby is by our Stallion, Talk About Tardee who is by Tardee Gold (Tardee Pine, Impressive, Starza's Pine, Goer, Red Eagle's Peacock, Poco Bueno, Haye's Roman Cloud, The Roman Hustler) and out of Shesa Skip Impressed who is also Impressive and Poco bred. And if you want to go back far enough, Skipper W., Gold Heels, Old Fred...that crowd :)
That should give you enough to pull from :) Of course you can always just pull names out of the air too, that works!
